I'm looking at just about any assembled li-ion battery pack for sale and they all have 2 connectors coming out (4 wires total) and I'm wondering why is that? Extra two wires for a temperature sensor. I'm saying nothing of the sort and YOU are not supplying details of the specific pack you are investigating.
NOTE: Each external battery pack has a keyed mating connector that is only compatible with its corresponding UPS. If you find that a connector is binding or requires excessive force to insert you should STOP and check compatibility of the UPS and battery pack. support any other make/type of battery packs.
Choosing the right battery connectors is critical to creating a reliable solution. Parts can be mated with boards that are coplanar, parallel, or perpendicular. When you make your selection, refer to the drawings to confirm that the length of all pins and sockets does not exceed its mating counterpart.
The maximum carrying capacity of a battery pack connector cannot simply be calculated by multiplying the maximum current per pin by the number of contacts. The maximum current listed in TE's 108 specifications is for a single contact.
Look at the previous page and the wiring diagram for the battery. Notice the two outside wires of the charging connector connect to the same location as the primary output connector. Therefore, it is OK to use the two outside wires of the charging connector as the primary power output. And the same two wires can be used as the charger input too.
As the picture at the top of the page shows, tape the unused wires down and cover the ends with tape. The recommended Tenergy smart Lithium-Ion charger (TLP4000) will charge the battery pack to the proper voltage and then shut off.
